Interviews

One of the main initial goals of this group is to capture some basic history of: what does it mean to be a “Bear”. We are organizing some interviews, to be presented as Podcasts.

  • Questions to get the conversation going:
    • Preamble: When you set up the interview, ask the interviewee to bring any scrapbooks, photos, news clippings, awards, etc. that they may wish to share.
  • Basic information:
    • Most basic info:
      • What is your full name?
      • Do we have permission to record this interview?
      • Where are you from?
      • When were you born?
    • Historical information:
      • Tell me about your coming out.
      • Did/Do you identify with any gay subcultures or subgroups?
    • When and how did you learn about bears?
    • How/Do you identify as a bear?
    • Bear Community:
      • What are your memories of finding out about the bear community?
      • What did you witness?
      • How did you participate?
    • Bear Groups/Clubs: Did you find your way to any organized bear groups How/Did you participate?
    • WHAT IS A BEAR (in your opinion)?
